Talking Summer Wardrobe
ALL BLACK, ALL SUMMER — TRYING TO BUILD MY IDEAL SUMMER CAPSULE WARDROBE
The summer season has always been challenging for me wardrobe-wise. For one, many collections are filled with colorful, print-heavy, frilly pieces. And also, personally I have always find it so hard to dress for the heat (and my body type) while still maintaining some sort of effortless, elevated look. I would usually revert to trousers and some (too) basic tops in lieu of finding well-fitting shorts and skirts or dresses that suit my more minimalist aesthetic. Let’s just say, I have come a long way since then.
As you probably know, I love the idea of having somewhat of a daily uniform. It makes getting dressed truly effortless, without sacrificing on style. During last year’s trip to Australia, where I had to deal with 45+ degrees on some days, I quickly found out what pieces work and do not work for me when the days are hot and sunny. And thankfully, it turns out that it is no longer a struggle to find more muted, minimalist pieces in stores either… I have been keeping a look out for easy, breezy basics – even during the winter months – to build a bit of a summer capsule wardrobe that is curated to last for several seasons, ideally, for the majority, all throughout the year.
And when the temperatures increase, my daily stack of jewelry tends to decrease… I just really favor as few pieces that can stick to my skin as possible ;-) My usual day-to-day pieces are my four rings, but in summer I rather focus on earrings. Subtle statement piercings or just an easy, barely there ear cuff. They are the perfect little detail to add to your look when you want to keep it to a minimum – I prefer to wear just a single one on one side and not add anything to the other ear. I own a few different types of ear cuffs, but the slim, golden cuff is probably the most versatile as it gives me the most styling options because it can also easily be paired with other earrings without looking like there is ‘too much’ going on.
If you are a bit summer-wardrobe challenged as well, I have put together my current favorite finds for your inspiration. The majority of these are my go-to pieces that I reach for all-the-time and work so well together in a more capsule-focused summer wardrobe.
