Easy Does It
A note on effortless pieces that work for any occasion — and where to find them…
Comfort is key in getting dressed, always — but especially during these times. The last few months I have found myself reaching for the same selection in my wardrobe, which has made me realize that a) it’s time to curate my wardrobe again, b) it’s a fine art to reinvent your looks for comfort at home, while feeling put together enough to get into that work mode. Even though I always work from home, I feel different about getting dressed up nowadays. Besides the comfort factor, my current go-to pieces have other things in common: they are made of good, (preferably) natural materials. The fit is more oversized, but without looking slouchy. Understated, but not too simple. And I like a uniform look - either by ways of a reinvented version of the traditional suit or an actual matching set. Quality over quantity, in terms of style. Just solid wardrobe pieces that you can wear time and time again, effortlessly mixed and matched into different easy going, but elegant, looks… at home (either relaxing or working), while walking the dog or meeting a friend over a (distant) glass of wine. No dressing up for an occasion, but rather simply being prepared for any occasion — in the same look. Easy does it.
Speaking of easy… I have recently discovered a newly launched online marketplace — called Afound — which offers selections from some of my fashion favorites (such as ARKET and COS), high-end designer brands and exclusive vintage pieces as well as decor and lifestyle products, all at reduced prices. You can shop directly from several different sellers, both global brands and independent retailers. What I like about Afound’s concept is that they hand-pick and curate their selections, which means that you find just the right amount of styles to choose from, without feeling overwhelmed by too many options (as a Libra this is an important factor for me ;-)).
With my ‘wardrobe gaps’ in mind, I had a good browse and actually filled up my cart rather quickly… I figured it would be a good opportunity to share my finds with you based on some styling inspiration I saved recently (one of my favorite steps when curating my wardrobe!) — ahead: three effortless looks that work for any occasion.
