On Finding A Home

A month ago (and way before that) I got super excited about finding a new apartment once we would get to Berlin. I was already looking up places online while we were still in Vancouver and I couldn't stop dreaming about living in a typical 'Altbau' apartment. High ceilings, wooden floors, white walls... something straight from my Pinterest board.

And while there are a lot of those apartments available in Berlin, it turned out to be more difficult to find a place than anticipated. The stack of required paperwork was a hurdle that we tackled rather quickly, but the fact that we are picky about where to live -we have our mind set on only two of the many 'hoods- narrowed the options down quite a bit. Our favourite neighbourhoods happen to be the most popular amongst many others as well! Sometimes we'd show up at a place for a group showing and there would be at least 50 others waiting. It felt a bit like standing in line for a casting...

So the house hunt definitely got a little tiresome. Also because it would take up most of our days (almost every day), even though we would only view a handful of places. I really still can't figure out where all the time goes here! Time flies when...

BUT last week we viewed a couple of really nice places and we applied for them straight away! I don't want to tell more about them as I don't want to jinx anything (supersticious much?), but we should hear more very soon. Needless to say I am fanatically browsing Pinterest already for lots of inspiration in case we get the happy call in the next few days... I'll share my favourite pins on the blog soon!
